Getting on the Water Fast
One of the most common questions new inflatable SUP owners ask is: how long does it take to inflate? The good news is that with the right technique, you can have your board fully inflated and ready to paddle in just 5 minutes. Here's a step-by-step guide.
What You'll Need
- Your Paeloop inflatable SUP board
- High-pressure hand pump (included with all Paeloop boards)
- A flat surface to lay the board on
How to Inflate Your SUP Board
Step 1: Unroll the Board
Remove the board from its carry bag and unroll it on a flat, clean surface. Make sure the fin box is facing down and the deck pad is facing up.
Step 2: Attach the Fins
Before inflating, attach your center fin (and side fins if included) to the fin boxes at the tail of the board. It's much easier to do this before the board is fully rigid.
Step 3: Connect the Pump
Locate the inflation valve on the board (usually near the tail). Remove the valve cap and connect your pump hose. Make sure the pump is set to the inflate position (not deflate).
Step 4: Pump to Pressure
Begin pumping. The first 50–60 pumps will be easy as the board takes shape. The last 20–30 pumps require more effort as you reach the target pressure. Most Paeloop boards should be inflated to 12–15 PSI — check your board's specifications. The board should feel firm and rigid, not soft or bouncy.
Step 5: Close the Valve
Once at the correct pressure, quickly remove the pump hose and replace the valve cap. Press the cap down and twist to lock it securely.
How to Deflate Your SUP Board
- Remove the valve cap and press the center pin down to open the deflate valve
- Roll the board from the nose toward the tail to push air out
- Once fully deflated, fold or roll the board tightly
- Place back in the carry bag for storage or transport
Pro Tips
- Never leave your inflated board in direct sunlight for extended periods — heat causes air to expand and can damage the seams
- Store your board slightly deflated (around 5 PSI) if keeping it inflated for long periods
